Happy Father’s day to the best Grandpa ever, Bob Tyner. I miss this guy like no other, it’s been a long hard year that I could have used him by my side many times, especially right now, but I know he’s here with me and all of us. He was possibly the best person I have ever known or ever will know, no matter what I did he always supported me as long as it wasn’t self-destructive. No matter how bad I did in school, even if he was disappointed, he still looked at me with asmile filled with love. My last memory of him, was him smiling and winking at me, and I will never forget it, ever.“Left without saying goodbye, must’ve been the angel’s time to save you. Though I never will forget, days of mourning must now be through. At least no suffering remains, never saw it for what it was: a Blessing In Disguise. At least now confidence remains, saved your body from its torture, a better place in store.”
He was and still is one of the greatest people I’ve ever known. He always taught me to do what I believed, and what I believed was right. He told me to chase my dreams, and not let anyone stop me, not even myself. My grandfather was there for me to teach me some of life’s lessons when my dad couldn’t because of work.
I know there are a lot of things I’ve done in my life that I’m not proud of, and I have probably let my grandfather down so much with the choices I have made, but I know he would still love me and support me no matter what.
Where I’m at in my life right now, I could really use his strength and love supporting me. I miss him more than anything, but I look at the sky and say, “I hope you can see me smilin’.” because even though he’s not here any longer, everything he taught me, everything he gave me, it’s all still in my heart and I am happy. I’m happy knowing that he’s in a better place, where he can watch over myself and the rest of the lives who loved him.
More than 900 people showed up to his funeral, and all of them smiled and shook my hand as they walked by me. All of these people were impacted by my grandpa and his life. It just blew me away that THAT many people loved and adored my grandpa. The sheer numbers just shook me, he had that much reach and affected that many lives. He truly was a great man.
I love you Grandpa Bob, see you when I get there.

You can marry whoever you want. Matt: Really? Josie: YEAH my tia has a wife so now I have a titi and a auntie. Matt: Okay. Then maybe I'll marry him. Dave: (from across the room) No you can't you're seven. (Age was apparently the only foreseeable problem anyone of my elementary schoolers could see with gay marriage. I almost cried out of happiness. Later, when I was asked if boys could kiss anyone they wanted, I replied "only if they want to kiss you back." And Josie responded "Yeah! Your body your life.") My students are the shit.
